THIS was a day. After Annie's day yesterday (school, homework, swimming lessons, Daddy-Daughter dance), I thought she would perhaps sleep in this morning, which would have been excellent timing as Snowmageddon '11 had taken over our state and school was cancelled by 10 p.m. last night. But no. She was up at 6:59 a.m., ready to look outside in awe at all the snow. Jemma, too.
So we made cinnamon rolls.
We worked on valentines while we were still in our jammies.
We did family yoga, then family 30-Day Shred.
We played outside in the deep, deep snow.
We came inside to drink hot cocoa
and eat grilled banana-nutella sandwiches.
I went snowshoeing with friends while they girls had quiet time (and accidentally-on-purpose ended up at Rose's for Guinness and root chips), then came home to find the entire neighborhood in our front yard, climbing the enormous snow piles the plows had made, sledding through a Jason-crafted snow tunnel, and helping us shovel our cars out of the snow.
Later, there were baths
and homemade chocolate pudding by the fire
and gratitude for a cozy, magical snow day.
